Sky Speed Showdown

GETREKT collaborated with the amazing teams at GOAT, Essence Media & Umi to promote the launch of Sky City, Sky Broadband's new, speed focused, UEFN Map.

This multi-creator activation featured a branded production & a unique dynamic overlay system to create in game challenges, leaderboards & chat based interaction.

Our goal was to get more eyes on Sky's awesome new map & drive player adoption.

Branded Stream Overlays

The first phase of this project was to work with GOAT & Essence Media to decide on the creative direction for the stream.

Using bold colours, textures & using the Sky Speed Showdown brand assets, we created a full suite of stream overlays for the production including animated scenes, backgrounds, transitions, overlays & flare animations to compliment our unique dynamic challenge system & leaderboards.

With in game layouts & a sharp intermission to house all of our data driven overlays, & mobile OBS setups for easy creator implementation we created a unique look for the 3 weeks of Twitch streams.

Challenge System

As part of the campaign, 4 UK based creators were given in-game challenges to complete. Ranging from exploring branded areas of the map to completing a gauntlet of speed based elimination challenges.

To celebrate every win, we created a dynamic overlay system that triggered challenge complete animations & automatically delivered score updates to the overlays, shifting their position on the leaderboard.

Split into 4 unique teams, Marlin, Hare, Cheetah & Antelope, their communities were also tasked with spamming emotes to complete a bonus challenge & boost their score.

Dynamic Overlays

Managing the streams of multiple creators can be a tough ask for a production team. Using our Stream Dashboard technology we developed a system to allow a single producer to manage each stream.

This build featured our chat reading technology to track emote usage, single button challenge complete media toggles & automatic score updates for our custom leaderboard. This was then all pushed to the overlays keeping the audience informed of their favourite creators progress.

Chat Reading Technology

The challenge system was a great way to engage our creators, but what about the audience?

Using our chat reading technology we created a bonus challenge for every creators channel, tasking their viewers with spamming emotes to boost their points.

The technology can read any chat inputs, including emotes & commands, to drive challenge systems, trigger animations, progress bars & keep the audience engaged.

Speed Boost Overlays

As part of the UEFN map build, courtesy of the talented team at Umi, there was an in built speed boost feature that was applied every 3 minutes.

To signify this for the audience, we created a rotating overlay syncronised with the event to showcase that the speed boost was active.

This was a great way to tie together the audience & creator experience ensuring they were on the journey for the whole campaign.
